The Story
Fazenda Nossa Senhora das Graças, managed by Mrs. Maria das Graças Peixoto, is nestled in
Ibiraci, Minas Gerais, Brazil, at an altitude of 1,280 meters. The Peixoto family has been cultivating
coffee on this farm since 1938, contributing to a rich heritage of coffee farming that spans over a
century. The farm is renowned for its production of high-quality natural coffee, which is processed
on a cement patio. This traditional method allows the beans to develop a unique flavor profile that
reflects the region's terroir.
Their dedication to quality is evident in the meticulous natural processing method employed, which
involves sun-drying the beans on cement patios for 35 days. This thorough and even drying
process, combined with the family's long-standing commitment to coffee cultivation, ensures that
Fazenda Nossa Senhora das Graças produces exceptional coffee that honors its rich heritage
while embracing a sustainable future.
More info
Fazenda Nossa Senhora das Graças stands as a testament to the Peixoto family's dedication to
coffee farming. With origins dating back to 1920, the farm has grown to become a significant
player in the Ibiraci region, located near the scenic Rio Grande River valley and Serra da Canastra
mountain range. The Peixoto family's commitment to coffee began with Mr. Nelson Alves Peixoto,
who planted the first coffee trees, setting in motion a legacy that thrives today.
The farm is now run by Mrs. Peixoto’s daughters and sons-in-law, who oversee all aspects of its
operations. They grow varieties suited to the high-altitude environment and emphasize sustainable
farming practices.
The current management team is focused on upholding this legacy while adapting to modern
agricultural practices. With aspirations to expand productivity and quality, the family invests in
sustainable farming techniques that not only enhance the coffee but also benefit the environment.
While the farm does not currently engage in other forms of agricultural production, its emphasis on
coffee allows the Peixoto family to concentrate on perfecting their craft.
